Top 7 Tallest Volleyball Players in the World.

Volleyball is all about being tall. In this sport, there are players who are tall and players who are super tall. How do I define being super tall? You need to be at least 215 cm (7 ft). If you’re tall like that’ you have a huge advantage, but remember that height isn’t everything.

So, who are the tallest volleyball players?

PlayerHeight
Wuttichai Suksara224 cm (7.35 ft)
Dmitrij Musersky218 cm (7.2 ft)
Bartlomiej Lemanski217 cm (7.1 ft)
Renan Zanatta Buiatti217 cm (7.1 ft)
Leandro Martins da Silva216 cm (7.09 ft)
Alexander Kazakov
216 cm (7.09 ft)

1. Wuttichai Suksara224 cm (7.35 ft)

Nationality: Thailand
DOB: 21 June 1995
Position: Middle blocker
Spike: 350 cm (183 in)

Some people still believe that Dmitrij Musersky is the tallest volleyball player. Well, that’s not the case anymore, because Thai Wuttichai Suksara is 6 cm taller. Some sources say Suksara is 224 cm, others say 222 cm. It doesn’t change the fact that there is no other volleyball players taller than him right now. This height isn’t normal and Suksara was diagnosed to have gigantism. What’s interesting is at the age of 13 he was already 198 cm tall (6.5 ft). His siblings are also way taller than their relatives. Wuttichai Suksara’s shoe size is 56 (Europe) or 22 (USA) so it’s hard to find the right shoes for him. This Thai volleyball player is still playing in Thai league, but if he improves his condition and technique, he can play for some better European team. More surprising facts like this you can find in this article.

Dmitrij Muserskiy is quite popular in the volleyball world. It’s thanks to his tremendous height. Andirej Woronkow- a former Russian volleyball player says that Muserskiy in 2013 was the best player in the world because of his intelligence and ambition. Some even say he’s the best player in history, but I would disagree. Of course, he helped the national team of Russia win the World League, Olympic Games, and European Championship, but he had worse and better times. Right now Dmitrij plays for the Japanese club Suntory Sunbirds where he’s really popular because of his height. How tall is the average men’s volleyball player?

The guys from the list of the tallest volleyball players in the world are exceptions. In reality, volleyball players aren’t that high. We all know that volleyball players are tall, but how exactly? What’s the average volleyball player height?

I couldn’t find any data when it comes to the average volleyball player’s height. That’s why I decided to calculate it by myself. I took 10 random volleyball clubs from random world’s leagues and calculated their average height. Here’s the result:

Zenit Kazan: 200,3 cm (6,57 ft)
Skra Belchatow: 195,8 cm (6.42 ft)
Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle: 196,9 cm ( 6.46 ft)
Trentino Volley: 197,5 cm (6.48 ft)
Lube Civitanova: 195,7 cm (6.42 ft)
Sada Cruzeiro: 195,7 cm (6.42 ft)
Khatam Ardakan: 193,8 cm (6.36 ft)
Fakel Novy Urengoy: 197 cm (6.46 ft)
VfB Friedrichshafen: 196,5 cm (6.45 ft)
Fonte Bastardo Azores: 191 cm (6.27 ft)

The average volleyball player is 196,02 cm (6.43 ft).

It’s not a perfect estimation, because 10 clubs might be too little to assess, but it’s a good overall view. I think the average volleyball player’s height is 194-197 cm.

Who is the tallest libero?

You might be also curious, who is the tallest libero and how tall he is.

Well, as you already know, liberos are typically the shortest players in the team, but of course, it’s not always the case.

It’s normal when liberos are sometimes 190 cm (6,2 ft), but there is a libero who is 208 cm (6,8 ft). It’s Aleksander Bogomolow. In a match Zenit Kazan-Bielogorie Bielgorod played as a libero. Normally, he plays as a middle blocker, but in this game, he had to substitute Aleksiej Obmoczajew, because of illness.

And Bielogorie Bielgorod won this game…
